Arthur Rotenberg, DVM
Dr. Art Rotenberg founded an equine ambulatory practice in 1981 based in Palgrave, Ontario, which later became Rotenberg Veterinary Professional Corporation. His professional interests include reproduction, neonatal care, and Thoroughbred sales work. Dr. Rotenberg continues to provide reproduction services, castrations, sales radiography and endoscopy, and mentorship to the veterinarians in the practice. In his spare time, he enjoys birding, playing tennis, hiking, traveling and spending time with his family.
Marisa Giliberto, DVM
Dr. Marisa Giliberto has had a passion for horses since learning to ride at the age of 7. She gained extensive knowledge of the Thoroughbred industry through working at Woodbine Racetrack for 3 years as a veterinary student. Following graduation from OVC in 2009, she pursued an equine internship at the Equine Medical Center of Ocala in Ocala, Florida. During her internship year she acquired experience in equine emergency medicine, anesthesia, surgery, reproduction, and neonatal care. She joined Dr. Rotenberg in practice in 2010 and became a partner at Rotenberg Veterinary in 2017. Her professional interests include reproduction, neonatal care, Thoroughbred sales work, and dentistry. In her free time, Dr. Giliberto enjoys playing hockey (on a men’s team with her husband Ben) and ringette, spending time with family along with cuddling with her two cats.
Sarah Shaw, DVM, DACVIM
Dr. Sarah Shaw developed an appreciation of the equine athlete through riding hunters and eventers and working at Woodbine Racetrack as a veterinary student. After graduating from OVC in 2010, she gained valuable experience in large animal practice with Port Perry Veterinary Services before completing a rotating internship at Equine Medical Center of Ocala. Dr. Shaw then became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine through a 3-year residency program at Texas A&M University. Dr. Shaw returned to southern Ontario in 2016 to join Rotenberg Veterinary P.C. and became a partner in 2018. Dr. Shaw offers both ambulatory services and equine internal medicine consulting. Her professional interests include respiratory disorders, equine gastric ulcer syndrome, ultrasonography, and neonatology. In her free time, she enjoys riding eventers, visiting new countries for riding holidays, skiing, and spending time with her family.
Jenna Donaldson, DVM, cVMA
Dr. Jenna Donaldson grew up riding hunters and jumpers near Toronto, Ontario. She completed a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Guelph before attending the Ontario Veterinary College. After graduation in 2013, Dr. Donaldson completed an equine general practice internship in Alberta, Canada. She then returned to Ontario for a year-long surgical internship. She worked in ambulatory equine practice in both southern Ontario and New York prior to joining Rotenberg Veterinary Professional Services in 2019. Dr. Donaldson’s professional interests include sports medicine and reproduction. Dr. Donaldson is also certified in Veterinary Medical Acupuncture and enjoys incorporating acupuncture into her practice. In her spare time, Dr. Donaldson enjoys riding, hiking, snowboarding, and reading.
Alex Armstrong, RVT
Alex grew up on a hobby farm in Woodbridge, ON where her love of animals first developed. She knew at a young age that her calling was in the veterinary field. Alex gained a lot of experience over the years with her family’s own racing and off-track Thoroughbreds. She attended Seneca College in King City, ON for a Veterinary Technician degree. She joined Rotenberg Vet after graduation in 2019. Currently Alex is working towards her Equine Specialty designation. Her professional interests include reproduction, neonatal care, radiology and internal medicine workups. In her spare time, Alex enjoys reading, going on hikes with her dogs Mac and Tucker and her cat Piper, riding her horse Gadget, and taking care of her ducks, sheep, and the rest of her animals.
Liz Brown, RVT
Liz grew up in Port Perry, ON. She started riding horses at age 7, and became fascinated with thoroughbred horse racing. She attended the University of Ottawa and completed a degree in International Development and Globalization. After realizing she wanted to pursue her love of animals, she then attended St. Lawrence College in Kingston to complete a Veterinary Technology degree. She joined Rotenberg Vet after graduation in 2022. Liz’s professional interests include neonatal care, and internal medicine. In her spare time, Liz enjoys riding horses, music, and attempting to learn how to crochet.
